This is a summary of RAM prices, specifically 2x8GB DDR4 3200MHz kits, from January 2017 to December 2025
Note that this data was constructed from graphs provided by pcpartpicker.com. The latest price trends can be found at https://pcpartpicker.com/trends/price/memory/
The graph and the data that produced it were created using Python scripts. The python scripts scan through graph images downloaded from pcpartpicker.com (historical data was gathered using waybackmachine).
Bare in mind that the python scripts used to extract the data was generated using an AI (vibe-coded in Google Antigravity). This data really isn't that trustworthy, and there were likely some minor mistakes during extraction (for example, price values being offset by a month), but I just wanted to see a chart of prices going all the way back to 2017. There are likely way better sources for historical RAM data, this was just the best I could come up with extracting data off of a collection of PNGs and getting it done in an afternoon (╥_╥)
Also, pcpartpicker.com doesn't have information on 2x8GB kits prior to 2018, so I'm filling with data on 4x4GB 3000MHz kits. Prices before 2019 on this chart might also be a little bit off because of that. But these are high-level, crappy numbers anyway, so I figured it didn't matter too much.
Finally, here's a link to the data used to create the monthly averages chart. Again, this data was constructed using code created by an AI that is essentially unverified. I hardly gave the code a second glance, so really, don't trust this data. This is a for-fun project, I don't claim to be providing accurate data.
